Increased number of Women in Tourist Guiding and Conservation of birds

Since our inception in 2013, we have seen the number of female guides increase from 10 ladies to over 100 ladies spread across the different parts of Uganda. Many ladies have secured jobs in tourism as a result of our trainings. We continue to mentor women in tourism.

With support and donations of equipment made to the group, the ladies are able to borrow binoculars and cameras to enhance their birding and learning experiences.

Inspired the advent of similar Women Birder Groups across the world

The Kenya Women Birders started in 2018 and the Rwanda Women Birders group started in 2019 drew their inspiration from the Uganda Women Birders. We continue to inspire more groups and we pride ourselves in a strong foundation.

International Conference of Women Birders

The Uganda Women Birders Initiative saw the birth of the International Women Birders Conference in 2023. The conference brings together women involved in birdwatching and conservation from across the world. The conference provides a global platform for women across the world to share stories and learn lessons from each other.
